Philippine’s Premiere Soprano Maria Rachelle Gerodias has won the Aliw awards for Best Female Classical Artist two times and is one of the Philippines’ most award winning sopranos. Receiving her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance and Vocal Literature from the famed Eastman School of Music in New York, Ms. Gerodias also holds a Professional Diploma in Operatic studies from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Ms. Gerodias received her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice at the University of Santo Tomas.
A versatile artist, Ms. Gerodias has collaborated with top musicians and appeared as soloist for international orchestras and music festivals with famous conductors like Christoph Eschenbach, Georg Tintner, Pierro Gamba, Oscar Yatco and Julian Quirit. Her notable collaboration is that with Ms. Mirella Freni, making her the only Filipina to have ever worked with the great opera diva. At present she serves as a faculty member at the UST Conservatory of Music.
She had performed the role of Liu in Turandot at the VOLSKOPER WIEN on April 2 and 6, 2008 in Vienna, Austria to great critical acclaim and will reprise the same role in Singapore Lyric Opera's 2008 season of Turandot.
