Paul Emile Fourny

Trained in theatre and rhetoric, Paul-Emile Fourny has been the CEO and Artistic Director of the l’Opéra de Nice since the October of 2001.

In his capacity as a director, he has produced many operas over the course of his illustrious career, and has worked with internationally renowned opera companies from the Far and Middle East to the Americas and Europe.

Some of the works he has staged and worked on include: Manuel de Falla’s La Vida Breve; Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex; Verdi’s Rigoletto; Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Die Entfhrung aus dem Serail; Dukas’ Ariane et Barbe-Bleue; Giordano’s Andrea Chenier; Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor; Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette and Faust; Puccini’s Turandot; and Massenet’s Werther. His latest staging includes Britten’s le Songe d’une Nuit d’Eté (April 2008), and Puccini’s Manon Lescaut will be staged at the Torre Del Lago Festival in July 2009.
