Martin Ng

Singapore-born Martin commenced his musical training under Joy Chen, and pursued further studies at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica “dall’Abaco” in Verona. Thereafter he continued his training in Italy under Chu Tai-Li and Enrico Conforti.

He has won the Singapore Lyric Opera’s International Singer of the Year Award and was awarded 2nd place in the 6th Rassegna Concertistica ‘Città di Montichiari’ in 2011.

Martin made his operatic debut in 2005 with the Singapore Lyric Opera as Prince Yamadori in Puccini's Madama Butterfly. In the same year he sang the role of King Balthazar for the company's production of Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors. His other operatic performances include Ferrando in Verdi's Il Trovatore, Colline in Puccini's La Bohème, Angelotti in Puccini's Tosca, Dottore Grenvil in Verdi’s La Traviata, Timur in Puccini’s Turandot and Sarastro in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.

He has performed as the bass soloist in concerts of Bach’s Magnificat and St John Passion, Buxtehude’s Membri Jesu Nostri and Mozart’s Requiem.
