Considered as one of the Philippines’ acclaimed tenors, Lemuel graduated from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) with a Bachelor of Music degree under Maestra Salvacion Oppus-Yñiguez. He went to the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts and obtained his professional diploma in Opera Studies (with distinction).
Operatic roles that he has performed include Count Almaviva in Barber of Seville, Prince Giovanni in Una Cosa Rara, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, Angel in Der Schauspieldirektor, Gaston in La Traviata (SLO), Alfred in Die Fledermaus (SLO), Detlef in The Student Prince (SLO), Beppe in Pagliacci (SLO), Malcolm in Macbeth (SLO), Ruiz in Il Trovatore (SLO/CCP), Remendado in Carmen (SLO), Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore, Don Basilio/Don Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro (SLO), Triquet in Eugene Onegin (CCP), Pong in Turandot (SLO), Spalanzani/Natanael in Tales of Hoffman (SLO), Monostatos in Magic Flute and in Manon Lescaut for L’Opera de Nice, France. He has performed as tenor soloist in Mozart’s Requiem (SSO), Resphigi’s Laud to the Nativity, Bach’s Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah and Haydn’s The Seasons for Aula Simfonia, Jakarta.
Lemuel currently teaches at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music in Manila.
