Jeffery Tan

Jeffrey Tan was a former Principal Dancer and Artiste, Associate Ballet Master and Resident Choreographer for the Singapore Dance Theatre in an illustrious career that spanned from 1991 to 2008, playing a major role in the company’s artistic endeavours and developments during this time.

Despite a late start to his dancing career at the age of 21 with the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company, Jeffrey has grown to become one of Singapore’s most prolific and promising dancing stars. He studied at the Singapore Ballet Academy, London Studio Centre, and obtained his Master of Fine Arts degree from the Queensland University of Technology. He was a finalist in the Asia-Pacific Dance Competition, Tokyo in 1995. In 2000, Jeffrey was awarded the National Arts Council’s Young Artist Award for Excellence in Dance.

Recent choreography works include the opening item of the Singapore Evening at APEC 2009, Shanghai Blues (Toy Factory), Broadway Beng (Dream Academy), Peranakan Ball (Mediacorp VizPro), Voyage de la Vie (Resorts World Festive Theatre), the opening Aerial Act of the Singapore River Festival, Fried Rice Paradise (Singapore Repertory Theatre), the National Day Parade 2010, the Singapore show segment at the Shanghai World Expo, W!ld Rice Charity Ball, Cinderal-lah! (W!ld Rice) and Christmas Magic (Magic Box).
