Australian tenor Jason Wasley attended the Victorian College of the Arts Opera Studio in Melbourne and won the Herald-Sun Aria, enabling him to study in Europe. He represented Australia in the finals of the Placido Domingo World Operalia Competition in Vienna and worked as an apprentice soloist with the Victorian State Opera.
After study at the Bertrand Russell Institute of Languages, Jason was accepted into the National Opera Studio. He sang in the Glyndebourne Festival, the Welsh National Opera’s education programme, and the Melbourne Opera.
In 2006, he moved from baritone to tenor and has most recently appeared with Opera Australia, Melbourne Opera, State Opera of South Australia, UWA Choral Society and a tour for Logan Musical Events to China. 2013 engagements include Florestan in the Melbourne Opera’s Fidelio, the Verdi Requiem with Sydney University, the Animated Ring Cycle with More Than Opera and Mahler’s 8th Symphony with ZMS orchestra.
