Korean tenor Ha Seok Be majored in voice at the Kyung Hee University Music College in Seoul and graduated from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan in 1999. A prize recipient of various competitions, he received first prizes in the 3rd Giulietta Simionato International Competition, Italy in 1997 and the 7th Voice of Bilbao International Competition, Spain in 1998. Other international competitions include 37th Voice Verdian of Busseto in Italy in 1997 (Tenor Special Prize ‘Giacomo Lauri Volpi’, ‘Voice of Verdian’), 40th G.Verdi of Parma in Italy in 1997 (Tenor Special Prize), 48th G.B Viotti of Vercelli in Italy in 1997 (3rd Prize), 1st Monserrat Caballe in Principat D’Andorra in 1999 (3rd Prize) and 37th Francesco Viñas in Barcelona in 2000 (2nd Prize, Prize of Public).
He has performed in numerous operas, and major operas include Carmen (Don Jose), Norma (Pollione), La Traviata (Alfredo), Turandot (Calaf), Aida (Radames), La Bohème (Rodolfo), Tosca (Cavaradossi) and the title role of Don Carlo.
Seok Be sings a wide repertoire of works, and has performed with the National Opera of Korea and other international opera stages. In December 2007, he has performed Il Trovatore in Tokyo with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and future plans include a 3 Tenors Concert in Tokyo with the Tokyo Philharmonic in 2008.
He made his Singapore debut in Puccini Gala, Nov 2008 at Esplanade Concert Hall to standing ovation.
