Emily Koh

Emily is a young composer of contemporary music, native of Singapore. Recent commissions include those from the Singapore Lyric Opera Children's Choir, Philharmonic Orchestra Society and Ding Yi Music Company. A recipient of a doctoral fellowship from Brandeis University, she will be pursuing her Ph.D. in Composition and Music Theory there with David Rakowski, Eric Chasalow and Yu-Hui Chang next fall. She holds Masters degrees in composition and music theory pedagogy from the Peabody Conservatory, Johns Hopkins University, graduating with the Otto Ortman award in composition and Anonymous Award in music theory. Emily also graduated from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore, as valedictorian of her class, and studied composition with Ho Chee Kong and double bass with Guennadi Mouzyka. Emily had also been conferred the Associate and Licentiate diplomas of the Trinity College London in Music Theory, Criticism and Literature, and also holds a diploma in double bass performance from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (London).
