Ee-Ping

Singapore-born soprano Ee-Ping trained at the Guildhall School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London. She made her debut at London’s South Bank (Queen Elizabeth Hall) singing the leading role of ‘Mimi’ in Puccini’s La Boheme with the British Youth Opera.

Since then she has performed all across Europe in many other operatic roles including ‘Cio-Cio San’ in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, ‘Rosina’in Mozart’s La Finta Semplice, ‘Fraarte’ in Handel’s Radamisto, ‘Marguerite’ in Heuberger’s Der Oper Ball, ‘Lia’ in L’enfant Prodigue, ‘Elisetta’ in Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto and ‘Countessa’ in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro.

Ee Ping was awarded the prestigious Singapore Young Artist Award in 2001. She returns regularly to perform in Singapore and maintains a close relationship with the Singapore Lyric Opera. Roles she has sung for them include ‘Pamina’ and subsequently ‘First Lady’ in Mozart’s Die Zauberflote and ‘Micaela’ in Bizet’s Carmen.

In Europe, she has been a prize-winner at numerous competitions including the Lieder Prize in the Julian Gayarre International Competition, the UK Royal Overseas League Music Competition and the National Mozart Competition.

Residing in the London since 1992, Ee-Ping currently also teaches Voice at the Westminster Cathedral Choir School in London.
