Born in South Africa, Dawid studied at the Royal College of Music, the National Opera Studio and the 2008 Aix-en-Provence Festival Academy. In 2009 he joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and represented South Africa in the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition.
Dawid's operatic roles include Bruno in Parthenogenesis (Canterbury Cathedral), Masetto in Don Giovanni (Glyndebourne Touring Opera), Adonis in Venus and Adonis (Transition Opera), Flemish Deputy in Don Carlos, The Steersman in Tristan und Isolde, and Moralès in Carmen (ROH Covent Garden). Dawid recently sang Leuthold in Guillaume Tell at Santa Cecilia, Rome with Antonio Pappano, recorded for EMI.
Roles at Covent Garden this season are Marullo in Rigoletto, 2nd Prisoner in Fidelio, Le Surintendant des Plaisirs in Cendrillon, and covers of Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Ned Keene in Peter Grimes. Further engagements include Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs for Bedford Choral Society, and Dr Falke in Die Fledermaus for the Bolshoi.
