Christina The

Soprano Christina The graduated from Royal Academy of Music in London, U.K. under the tutelage of Jane Highfield and Iain Ledingham, obtaining both Master of Arts in Singing and Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music.

Named as "a breakout crossover vocalist" by The Straits Times, amongst her numerous recitals is a performance at the Esplanade, which Prestige Magazine wrote, "A stunning performance. With poise, polish and drama her renditions of operatic arias held everyone in rapt attention. And perform she did - to an Encore."

Christina previously did her music training in Western Australia, while finishing her Master of Commerce in Finance at Curtin University of Technology. At the same time she became a prizewinner in 15 classical singing competitions and was chosen as one of '10 Young and Upcoming Classical Singers' (2003) by Australian National Association of Singing Teachers (ANATS).

She has participated in Master Classes and intensive courses by Maestro Renato Bruson (Accademia Musicale Chigiana, Siena), Laura Sarti (Academie de Musique Tibor Varga, Sion), Maestro Sergio Bertocchi at Mirella Freni’s Centro Universale di Bel Canto, and Sir Robert Tear.

Since then her operatic repertoire includes Ophelie (Hamlet), Gianetta (l’Elisir d’Amore), Zweite Zofe (Der Zwerg), Helene (l’Education Manquee). She also recorded with Warner Music for a motion picture soundtrack by Indonesian composers Melly Goeslaw and Anto Hoed.

Christina now resides in Perth and is currently expecting her first child.

Returning to Esplanade for her operatic debut in Singapore, Christina is glad to be part of SLO’s Die Zauberflote.
