Mezzo-Soprano Hi-Myung Choo was born in Seoul, Korea and studied at the Ewha Woman’s University. She earned the Master Degree of Music from the Juilliard School and was one of the winners of the Puccini Competition in New York. She performed in Allice Tully Hall (New York, Lincoln Centre) as a winner.
After graduation from The Juilliard School, she was a student of Doctorate Studies in S.U.N.Y at the Stony Brook. During her time in the U.S. she has performed in Santa Barbara, San Diego and New York.
She had a full opera debut as Carmen in the opera Carmen with the Korea National Opera Company. This performance was a rolling success which lead to her reprising the role eight times with the Korea National Opera.
As a leading Mezzo Soprano, she has sung Rosina in The Barber of Seville; Nicklausse in The Tales of Hoffman; Maddalena in Rigoletto; Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, all to great acclaim.
