Born in Singapore, Cherylene Liew studied at The University of Queensland, Australia, under the tutelage of Mark Jowett where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Performance (Honours Class I) and a Master of Philosophy in Music Performance (Voice).
Cherylene has performed extensively as a soloist in Australia and Singapore. She made her debut in Singapore Lyric Opera's Die Zauberflöte (2010) as The Second Lady, and went on to sing the role of Frasquita in Carmen (2011). Most recently, she performed as the Soprano soloist in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D minor with the Queensland Korean Orchestra for their Golden Jubilee Celebrations in Brisbane. In Singapore, Cherylene performed at Singapore Lyric Opera’s Opera in the Park concerts in 2008, 2010 and 2011 and Airs d’Opera in 2009.
Cherylene was Associate and later Chorus Mistress of the Singapore Lyric Opera’s Children’s Choir. From 2009 to 2011, she conducted the Choir Thank You for the Music (2009), It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year (2009), Joy (2010) and Encore! (2011). She continues her affiliation with the Choir with returned visits to do choral workshops.
