Bertrand Lee studied at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YSTCM), National University of Singapore on a full scholarship. For his excellent results, he was placed on the Dean's List and graduated with an honours degree in piano performance.
His principal teacher at the Conservatory was prominent virtuoso pianist Albert Tiu. Li also studied with Thomas Hecht, Head of Piano Studies at YSTCM, and has worked with Jacques Rouvier, Head of Piano at the Paris Conservatory; Ronan O'Hora, Head of Keyboard Studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama; Erik Tawaststjerna, Head of Piano Studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki; Milena Mollova, Dean of Music at the New Bulgarian University; and Marian Hahn and Ellen Mack from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
Lee is an experienced accompanist who has worked with singers of international renown. He has collaborated with musicians from the YSTCM and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, accompanying several of them in competitions where they emerged as top prize-winners. Recently, he was involved in the Singapore Lyric Opera's production of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte as a rehearsal pianist and an assistant to the conductor. He is currently the rehearsal pianist of the Singapore Lyric Opera Chorus.
