ABOUT THE YOUTH CHOIR

The Singapore Lyric Opera Youth Choir (SLOYC) is a member of the Singapore Lyric Opera family and was set up with the aim of developing young singers who have a keen interest in and a love for music. Members from 16 to 30 years will be given opportunities to explore repertoire from different genres and cultures.

The Singapore Lyric Opera Youth Choir made its debut on 4 November 2008. The Choir has to date performed in concerts like the Puccini Gala in November 2008 and sold out solo concerts at the Esplanade Recital Studio in August 2009. The Choir also took part in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann, Puccini’s La Bohème and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.

Members of the SLO Youth Choir are given solo opportunities in concerts.

JOINING THE YOUTH CHOIR

Audition

  • Prepare a song (not more than 5 minutes)
  • Candidates will be tested on:
    • Pitching
    • Vocal range
    • Rhythm
  • Audition fee: $20 (non-refundable)
