Salome, based on an adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s play, is a one act opera by Richard Strauss.

Salome is a story of power and obsession. It is also the tragedy of a teenager who longs for a life different from excesses to which she has been exposed. Her family is dysfunctional and she is desperately in search of love.

The extraordinary sound world of Strauss’ first major opera is endlessly fascinating, ranging from highly dramatic and blood-curdling to extremely beautiful and romantic, with lots of other colours and characters in between, condensed into 100 minutes of non-stop action.

This is a 90-100 minutes performance with no interval.
